Still enjoying Siege of Mirkwood

I’ve been knocking out skirmishes and 3-man sword hall instances lately.  Skirmishes are still fun and there is still alot of stuff to get from the tokens including pumping up Beowyf’s soldier Beobo.  Redranth beat me to getting his soldier to rank 20.  But the good news is I will just keep Beobo rank 19 and spend the skirmish marks elsewhere.  Nin, Canum and Beowyf did sword halls a couple times tonight.  Beowyf the Hunter tank strikes again.  MMO Viking wants the hammer that drops from there for Beowyf’s offhand.  In non-related lotro news, the new Ironman 2 trailer is out and it is badass.  Ironman and Warmachine look awesome.  Lots of good actors in it.  I can’t wait to see it.

Ding 65

Beowyf dinged level 65 last night with Adanther and Nindrojrir in close second at level 64.  That means the three of us out leveled Capron by thirteen levels the past week.  This makes MMO Viking sad!  C’mon cappy don’t stall out now!  After making it to the level cap I fast traveled around the various Malledhrim camps in Mirkwood trying to find my new potion recipes.  I found them at the large fort in the middle of Mirkwood.   The fort has two names.  The first is Minas Celebolf which means Minas=Tower and Celebolf=golden flower, so Tower of the golden flower.  The second name is Ost Galadh which means Ost=Fortress and Galadh=tree, so Fortress of the tree.  I’m thinking the Malledhrim renamed it Ost Galadh when they took it over recently.  This is Beowyf’s new home-base.  No more 21st hall for Beo.  Beo found the malledhrim acquaintance faction vendors here.  So I traded in the tokens and got Beo the new Malledhrim-faction Morale, Power, Fear, Wound, Disease, and Poison potions.  Beo has been making some cash from his alchemy lately.  I am really glad a switched from explorer.  Everyone always needs potions!  Also I’ve gotten the new battle scrolls recipes and the new improved bow-chant breach finder recipe.  Cool stuff.  Ost Galadh has a large crafting hall inside it, not small like the Mines of Moria 21st hall one.  And the crafting hall even has a bank inside it!  Only thing missing is an auction house in it but that’s asking too much I’m sure.  I discovered also that there is a Skirmish trainer and captain in our neighborhood of Barleywick in the Shire.  I thought that was kind of cool.  Here’s a screenshot of Beowyf the Alchemist making potions in the Tree-Fort crafting hall.

Siege of Mirkwood skirmishing

It’s been a couple days since the launch of Siege of Mirkwood.  I’ve been sick with a cold which sucks.  Beowyf is level 63, 2 more levels to go!  The Viking Fellowship has been having fun with the new skirmish system.  It is fun I pretty much like everything about it.  The only thing I don’t like is having to protect NPC’s from dying.  But I’m sure we will get better at it.  Capron seems stuck at level 48 for some reason.  It seems he made level 48 in two weeks and has now stayed at level 48 for two weeks.  Nin and I thinks he tradeskills too much.  Tradeskill once you hit level 65 cappy!  Another member of the fellowship is Derrigaul the Human Champion, who made level 52 today.  Derrigaul is MMO Vikings best friend from high school.  We have been playing MMOs since you had to roll 20 sided dice to play, and write you character on a piece of paper.  RIP Gygax.  Derrigaul likes to complete every side quest possible and enjoy the lore and story and smell the roses along the way.  Needless to say Nin and Beo disapprove!  Thats alright though come 2011 we will all be the same level, unless the raise the cap again!  Beowyf’s soldier is Beobo his uncle who taught him how to hunt.  Derrigaul’s soldier is a female herbalist that he verbally abuses.  I will be posting some new stuff in the funnies section so check it out ya’ll.

Siege of Mirkwood

The NDA was lifted days ago and between what I’ve read and heard Siege of Mirkwood seems like it might be perfect for the Viking Fellowship.  I’m especially excited like a 12-year-old schoolgirl at a twilight movie for the new Skirmish System.  Small battles playable from anywhere from 1 to 6 people with some sort of scalable tokens reward system that you can turn in for a long list of different rewards.  This sounds like the old EQ1 Lost Dungeons of Norrath type of reward system which MMO Viking did enjoy.  Also in the skirmish system each player brings along a computer controlled soldier to help them fight.  It can be a Tank type, a DPS type or a Healing type.  This is very intriguing.  At the moment I am leaning healing type so if I want to do solo skirmishes I will have someone to heal Beowyf.  But if it seems the majority of the time I am doing tons of skirmishes with the Fellowship and have no need for a healing NPC, I will adapt and use a DPS soldier.  I’m thinking if it ends up the majority of the time Beowyf and Nindrojrir duoing it might be best Beo + Healer and Nin + Tank.  Nindrojrir has all ready threatened to make his Soldier a DPS hunter type and name it Smartbeo.  Nin is evil.  I was watching House last night and realized Dr. Gregory House reminded me of Nin.  Narcissistic and always plotting evil little things to keep himself amused!  Anyway it all depends on the toughness of the skirmish and if Beowyf the Hunter can Tank it himself.  We shall see.  Once this thing starts it will be fun to figure out!
